I am disgusted (mild understatement) by the media's myopia during the 2008 election. Simply put, they miss the message that we're in the midst of a global change of which politics is but one small portion of it.

Using selected stats and books from certain publishers, they've concluded albeit erroneously that young evangelicals (meaning those of you under 30) have switched from being Republicans like your parents but are now voting Democratic - this is being reinforced by certain activist groups replete with conferences that help reinforce this stereotype - it is in these organizations' vested interests that they feed into this myth that Jesus is a political zealot who rode a donkey and thus must be a Democrat. Those of you in this demographic must prove both the media and those partisan progressives that you are seeking a third way - the way of Jesus. Go for it.

hey Sean,

I agree with you for sure that it's a pity that the CNN article misses the point of the tour, but I think Jamie put it well in the post by saying "let's see...which story they decide to tell." It reminds me of how Jesus said so many times "He who has ears, let him hear." Unfortunately, people will hear the message that Shane and Chris and the others are trying to spread from their own bias, whatever that may be, unless the Spirit of God opens their "ears" to hear what He has to say through Shane, Chris, & Co. I'm just glad they are saying that the tour isn't telling people who they should vote for, because then the press would really have a field day with us! :)

Wow, I think it is amazing how cnn barely writes about what shane claiborne and company say, but rather focus on how their "group of people" may influence the election. It quotes shane like 3 times and writes that he focuses on care for the poor and needy, which is true, but this article misses the heart of the message.

What matters most is not whether we are evangelicals, whether we gather in a Protestant church on Sunday morning or not, whether we vote for Obama or for McCain. What matters most to Jesus is how we live our lives. This is not a political issue.
