It’s been a rainy, dreary start to the summer here in Philadelphia, but stumbling across this blog post brightened my day. A street artist in Toronto, Ontario, Canada has recycled some abandoned, empty newsstands that began collecting trash and graffiti tags and repurposed them as planter boxes as part of his “guerrilla gardening” project throughout the city. You can read all the posts related his project here, as well as view photos of all his flowerbox installations. Interestingly, it seems that all of his flyerbox planters have since been removed and the boxes themselves either taken away or completely replenished with flyers and advertising information. Still, what a beautiful way to transform a blight and inspire some action.
