Happy October!
There’s been a lot going on with “The Ordinary Radicals”!
First, Director Jamie Moffett was recently interviewed in a podcast for Etcetera. Make sure you take a listen….
We are so excited by the requests from around the world from people who are excited about the film and want us to bring it to their area! And as a result, we’re adding dates all the time! Recently, we added Toronto and Portland. Keep checking our events page as there will be new dates added constantly.
There is still time to bring a screening to your area. If you would like more information on how you can help bring “The Ordinary Radicals” to your community, or to help with a screening that is scheduled for your area, email events@theordinaryradicals.com.
Also, we’re anxious to bring the film to the Northeast and to the Green Bay area- if you can help with either, we especially need you to contact us by email at events@theordinaryradicals.com.
Also, did you know that when you buy the soundtrack for the film, you can instantly download it? Check it out!
In preparation for Sunday’s debut, there will be a LIVE radio program discussing the film. This Friday, Sept 19, from 8-9PM, Director Jamie Moffett, and Lisa Sharon Harper (Executive Director of NY Faith and Justice and featured interviewee in the film) will be guests on The People Power Hour with George Crossley on WAMT 1190AM – Orlando, FL. Wow, what an amazing time. Nearly 300 people packed the theater of the Bryn Mawr Film Institute for the first public screening of The Ordinary Radicals. It was unbelievable. We had a fabulous reception designed by Shannon Oberg and Jake Miller of Gather Events; wonderful screening in a beautiful theater (thanks to Dave Mattson and Alice Bullitt).
It was great to see so many faces from the movie in the audience: Brooke Sexton, Tony Campolo, Leroy Barber, Becky Garrison, Terry Foester, Rene Colson Hudson and more).
And then we followed it up with an after party into the wee hours at the New Orleans restaurant next door. I’m getting tons of great notes from folks (and if you’ve seen the film, email: feedback@theordinaryradicals.com to let us know what you think).
So very very many thanks to everyone that helped to make this documentary happen. Now let’s go on a 20 city tour with this movie!!! ~jamie
New Orleans. What a city! I-10 glides above the bayou, a highway risen up from the murky waters. Tree lined streets sprouting mardi-gras beads. Shot-gun houses with six-foot shutters, and restaurant dining in the back of pick-up trucks. This is how New Orleans greeted me and I loved it and it loved me back with the first bite of seafood bouillabaisse from jacques imo’s. Many thanks to our host, Erin McQuade
who not only housed us in the abode of the famous artist Thomas Mann but introduced us to Michael Wong,
a man choosing to move into the margins of emipire in Central City and nourish and learn from the roots of an old and wise community.
Hanging out at the Envision 08′ conference. Seems there’s a lil’ bit of controversy, but still seems a mighty good group of people talking the good talk. Here’s a clip of Shane from a few hours ago that I thought you might enjoy.
Becky Garrison came to visit a few days ago, and while she was here we set up a few cameras and asked her some questions. Her interview was insightful, thought provoking and full of hope. I am not going to lie; I got Goosebumps a few times.
Becky mentioned in passing the idea that another world is possible, and this thought has been rolling around in my head ever since. She went on to speak of how the desire for another world to come was the driving force behind the foundation of America. Today, across the country that need has awakened once again. American’s are tired of the war, of the poverty, of the pollution. They are sick of being a country that perpetuates terror, and they want a change. They want a new way of life.
It is this very yearning that is uniting conservative and liberals, Christians and non-Christians. People of all walks of life are coming together, as they always have in our nation, in order to proclaim and invoke a better world. A world where justice, freedom and liberty are for all.
