Special thanks to Tom Harris for making this happen!
We are offering an opportunity for a possible screening in Chicago next weekend (Feb 5 or 6) at a very discounted cost. If you’re in Chicago, and you are interested in hosting a screening of “The Ordinary Radicals” complete with a Q&A session following the screening with Director Jamie Moffett, send an email to events@theordinaryradicals.com right away! Thanks!
We’re only two days away from our December 17th premiere, and the twit-blog-face-o’sphere has been positively buzzing with anticipation. However, we wanna reach every nook and cranny to make sure that everyone interested hears about the showing, especially those who aren’t as electronically blessed.
With these good ol’ printable flyers, you can spread the word around your community or workplace with ease. There’s one specifically for December 17, and another blank one for you to fill in your own date for your own event. Don’t forget, you can visit our shop to schedule your own screening as well.
We also have a press release available if you are a member of the Media.
The crew and I can’t wait to show off the film on Thursday. See you there!
“The Ordinary Radicals” subject Sr Margaret McKenna and the fine folks of New Jerusalem are featured in a cover story on this week’s Philadelphia City Paper. Great article by Isaiah Thompson. Here’s the link:
Two of our subjects in “The Ordinary Radicals” collaborated on a pretty fantastic book on leadership entitled “Follow Me to Freedom”. If you’ve seen the film, you know the lives these two lead are nothing short of inspiring. They can teach us all a thing or two about both leading and following well. Check it out.
You can order the book here and the audio book here.
In case you’re unaware, we here at Jamie Moffett Media Design & production have been plenty busy working on our next documentary project. It’s called Return to El Salvador, and it follows two Salvadoran couples 17 years after a brutal Salvadoran civil war, following them back to their home country and exploring the emotional and political toll it held for the people of El Salvador and it’s infrastructure.
Our editors have been burning the midnight oil for the past two months of post-production and the results are looking fantastic. It’s too much to keep to ourselves, especially given the way the project has grown over the past few months. So on November 3rd, we’ll be having big party to celebrate the work we’ve done so far.
Join us for a screening of some never-before-seen clips from the movie, plus appearances by our esteemed producers and investors to talk about the exciting future of this project. Expect the night to be filled with drinks and fun (first beer is free!). Hang out with the crew and see what sort of behind-the-scenes dirt you can dig up!
Should be a great time for all, so come on out! Get your tickets here – we’re meeting up at the Urban Saloon in Philadelphia on 2120 Fairmount Ave at 8:00pm. Remember, your $15 ticket purchase (and any other from our shop) goes directly towards producing more films like these.
Thanks so much for your continuing support. See you there!
I know this is short notice, but this weekend, Director Jamie Moffett will be attending the National Youth Workers Convention in Los Angeles. A screening of “The Ordinary Radicals” will be a “Late-Night Option” this Saturday.
But Jamie needs a place to stay. If you live in LA, or, even better yet, will be attending NYWC and don’t mind sharing your hotel room, please email ryan@theordinaryradicals.com ASAP.
A friend of TOR, Mike Morrell, posted this link, and I thought our TOR community would find this interesting. Community… it seems a lot of people are longing for it.
Is this a Christian nation? On Saturday, I saw among the sea of signs in DC at the antigovernment march, one sign, “This is a Christian nation.” It would have been interesting to ask the holder what s/he meant. Other signs–”The Zoo has an African and the White House Has a Lyin’ African,” “Bury Obamacare with Kennedy,” “We came unarmed (this time)” and ” ‘ Cap’ Congress and ‘Trade’ Obama back to Kenya!” I wonder if the smiling, white woman holding the zoo sign was in church on Sunday?
Wonder if the person holding the “This is a Christian nation” sign knows that neither the D of I nor the Constitution contain the name, Jesus? Or that Jefferson had his own edited version of the Bible which omitted miracles, the virgin birth and the resurrection? Or that Article VI of the Constitution states that there shall be no religious test for holding public office? Why? Because the framers thought that one’s own religious views should not bar one from holding public office. One need not be a Christian.
There is much discussion about incivility in our politics these days. The House voted to rebuke Rep. Joe Wilson for his yelling, “You lie!” The vote was along partisan lines. Not surprising. Have Democrats been guilty of incivility as well? Absolutely! But please, let’s stop talking about this nation as a Christian nation in a sea of race-baiting signs. Or be honest and say that the “This is a Christian nation” sign on Saturday meant white and that to provide some form of healthcare to 46 million Americans is an undeserved handout to the have nots.
